DROPPING ONLINE STUDENTS FOR NON-ATTENDANCE
Admissions has discovered that some students (classroom and online) who have never attended class, are not being dropped at census from. This is a serious concern in that RCC is getting paid for no-shows and then students are later appealing "F" grades saying they never logged on or attended.
Allowing students to stay in the class when they are physically not present (and/or receive an "F") also impacts the Successful Completion rates of each offering and ultimately the Institutional completion rates.
Admissions has asked all online faculty members to turn in the record of log-ins for their classes, but many online faculty have yet to respond. Contractually, providing attendance data is a faculty responsibility. This brief tutorial shows how to locate and use the Track Students function in WebCT to provide such data for your online classes. This function records students' first access, last access, number of logins, and articles read and posted. In addition to turning in a copy to Admissions, faculty members should keep a copy for their own records.
