Check Your Browser Version

WebCT 4.1 requires Netscape 6.2 or higher. Please see our Requirements Page for more information on browser versions, including downloads.

• Windows Users:
  • When you open Netscape, click the "Help" menu, then select "About Netscape"
• Macintosh Users:
  • (OS 9) When you open Netscape, click the "Apple" menu, then select "About Netscape" (may also say "About Netscape 6")
  • (OS X) When you open Netscape, click the "Netscape" menu, then select "About Netscape "

Required Cache Settings

•  Windows & Mac OS 9 Users:
  1. When you open Netscape, click the "Edit" menu.
  2. In the Edit menu, select "Preferences".
  3. In the Preferences panel, expand the "Advanced" category on the left-hand side and select the "Cache" option.
  4. On the right-hand side of the Preferences panel, select the "Every time I view the page" option for the "Compare page in cache...." setting.
  5. In the Preferences panel, click the "OK" button. Restart Netscape.

• Mac OS X Users:
  1. When you open Netscape, click the "Netscape" menu.
  2. In the Netscape menu, select "Preferences".
  3. In the Preferences panel, expand the "Advanced" category on the left-hand side and select the "Cache" option.
  4. On the right-hand side of the Preferences panel, select the "Every time I view the page" option for the "Compare page in cache...." setting.
  5. In the Preferences panel, click the "OK" button. Restart Netscape.

Required Java Settings

•  Windows & Mac OS 9 Users:
  1. When you open Netscape, click the "Edit" menu.
  2. In the Edit menu, select "Preferences".
  3. In the Preferences panel, click on the "Advanced" category on the left-hand side.
  4. On the right-hand side of the Preferences panel, select the "Enable Java" option.
  5. In the Preferences panel, click the "OK" button. Restart Netscape

• Mac OS X Users:
  1. When you open Netscape, click the "Netscape" menu.
  2. In the Nescape menu, select "Preferences".
  3. In the Preferences panel, click on the "Advanced" category on the left-hand side.
  4. On the right-hand side of the Preferences panel, select the "Enable Java" option.
  5. In the Preferences panel, click the "OK" button. Restart Netscape

Required JavaScript Settings

•  Windows & Mac OS 9 Users:
  1. When you open Netscape, click the "Edit" menu.
  2. In the Edit menu, select "Preferences".
  3. In the Preferences panel, expand the "Advanced" category on the left-hand side and select the "Scripts & Plugins" option.
  4. On the right-hand side of the Preferences panel, select the "Navigator" option for the "Enable JavaScript for" setting.
  5. In the Preferences panel, click the "OK" button. Restart Netscape.

• Mac OS X Users:
  1. When you open Netscape, click the "Netscape" menu.
  2. In the Netscape menu, select "Preferences".
  3. In the Preferences panel, expand the "Advanced" category on the left-hand side and select the "Scripts & Plugins" option.
  4. On the right-hand side of the Preferences panel, select the "Navigator" option for the "Enable JavaScript for" setting.
  5. In the Preferences panel, click the "OK" button. Restart Netscape.

Pop-up Blocker Settings

 Mac OS 9 Users: No supported versions of Netscape for Mac OS 9 include Pop-up Blocker functionality.

•  Windows & Mac OS X Users:
  1. When you open Nestcape, open the Preferences panel:
     • Windows users - click the "Edit" menu.
     • OS X users - click the "Netscape" menu.
  2. Select "Preferences..." from the menu
     • Windows users - In the "Edit" menu, select "Preferences".
     • OS X users - In the "Netscape" menu, select "Preferences.
  3. In the Preferences panel, expand the "Privacy & Security " category on the left-hand side and select the "Popup Windows " option.
  4. On the right-hand side of the Preferences panel, if the "Block unrequested popup windows " checkbox, is unchecked, you may skip step 5 & continue to step 6.
  5. Click the "Allowed Sites..." button. The "Allowed Web Sites" dialog will open.
  6. In the text box at the top, enter "riverside.wecbt.com" (no qotes).
  7. Click the "Add" button, Note "riverside.webct.com" has been added to the Site list.
  8. Click the "OK" Button. The "Allowed Web Sites dialog will close.
  9. Click the "OK" button on the Preferences panel. Restart Netscape.
