Case Study

King's College London's Global Health Partnership

Case study image

When King’s Global Health Partnerships (KGHP) set out to share their medical education expertise with doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals across Africa, they had no shortage of impact - but with the right tools, they knew they could reach further and move faster, even with limited staff and resources.

Run by the School of Life Course & Population Sciences at King’s College London, the programme works with health facilities, academic institutions, and governments to strengthen health systems and improve care quality. It connects UK and African health professionals through training, mentoring, and hands-on support, whilst driving collaborative research to inform policy and practice.

Yet despite its vital mission, KGHP managed its work much like many other bespoke programmes in higher education - through spreadsheets, emails, and dedicated administrative effort.

What KGHP needed was a system built for how their programme actually works - not one they had to bend to fit. They needed an integrated platform that provides a single point of information for programme tracking and reporting, custom workflows to manage their unique processes, and tools to help them engage with and track volunteer doctors and nurses overseas. They also needed a quick turnaround, all without the “bespoke” price tag.

That’s where OpenCampus came in.

The flexible, AI-native, no-code platform - designed specifically for education workflows - was quickly configured to match the exact needs of the programme. All within a matter of weeks.

Now, KGHP can:

Automate applications
Custom, project-specific workflows manage the entire application process - from submission and evaluation to interviews and offer letters - eliminating manual triage, accelerating turnaround, and improving transparency.

Streamline onboarding
All onboarding steps, from document collection to compliance checks, are managed within the platform, cutting processing time and improving the participant experience.

Gain real-time operational visibility
Centralised tracking for all overseas placements delivers up-to-date insight into activity, outcomes, and resource needs - without waiting for manual reports.

Enable secure communication and support
Integrated messaging connects staff and participants directly, enabling collaboration without the risks or inefficiencies of email. Additionally, doctors can safely communicate with each other through the system for cross-project collaboration.

Simplify reporting and compliance
With a single source of truth, the system generates accurate participation and outcome reports instantly, supporting both internal decision making and external accountability.

Ensure GDPR-compliant, AI-powered workflows
AI can be built directly into every workflow, streamlining tasks and decisions while keeping data secure and compliant by design. Powered by AWS Bedrock’s isolated model environments, every step is fully GDPR compliant, so KGHP can innovate faster without ever compromising privacy or trust.

The result? Less admin. More insight. And better support for the healthcare workers delivering care on the ground.

Whilst this story is about global health, the challenge isn’t unique. Programmes like placements, fellowships, community initiatives and more still depend on spreadsheets, email, and manual interventions to function. OpenCampus offers a smarter alternative - a flexible, affordable platform that addresses these challenges whilst seamlessly integrating with existing digital infrastructure.

If you’re struggling with antiquated programme management, there’s a better way.
